Welcome Dune and Leo!

hey leah,

last Wednesday at 6:50 am our lovely Leo and Dune came to this world! I was laboring victoriously until 6.5cm dilation, at which point it became clear that Leo, already a bit compromised by size and placenta function might not be able to tolerate the stress of intense contractions and pushing. Dr. Crane said he really thinks the risk was too hi and, eventually, I was victoriously C-Sectioned : -)

Leo, being a VERY little man, had to go to the NICU were he's doing better and better every day. Today for the first time, he had a whole meal based on breast feeding solely! He is a real fighter and eager to come home and prove that to his sister, who's doing fantastic her self.

a quick advice for women who are not sure if trying to deliver vaginally is worth it when there's a hi possibility for C-Section:

1. with all it's challenges and discomforts labor is an amazing experience that truly empowers you even if you don't complete the entire process (but you might!)

2. you'll spend more time in a nice, intimate delivery room and less time in a horribly lit Operating Room were many unfamiliar faces are running around to the sound of bad 80's music.

All in all, nothing about how my delivery turned out was disappointing since I embraced all potential scenarios and had a complete and total trust in my OB (and my babies :-)

Hope you're doing well yourself,

-Smadar
